Sivakumar

Sivakumar is the Design Manager for the digital solutions team at Sankalp.Prior to Sankalp, Sivakumar was the site manager in Karnataka Microelectronics (KarMic) and Design manager at Texas Instruments India. Sivakumar has over 15 years experience in the semiconductor industry with expertise in SoC (System-on-a-chip) backend, Digital Cell Library development, IP quality, People & Project Management.

Sivakumar joined Texas Instruments India in the year 1995 as an IC Design Engineer. Within 10 months of his career, Sivakumar became the project leader for the Mixed-signal Digital Cell Library development activity in TI India. In this role, Sivakumar developed & supported 30+ cell libraries with a small team. He also conceptualized and developed the first double height cell library within TI.

In 2001, Sivakumar moved on to digital backend in BSTC group in TI India. He handled many tapeouts of various WLAN (802.11.b, 802.11.a/b/g) chips . His team consistently delivered on schedule & quality with a final RTL-GDSII cycletime of < 4 weeks.

In the year 2004, Sivakumar moved into the Wireless Business unit and was the design manager for the DVB-H chip. This project awarded the “Innovators in Action” award for outstanding execution with final RTL-GDSII cycletime of 3 weeks. Sivakumar then focussed on the Analog IPs where he defined and deployed a new quality system to deliver predictable & sustainable quality.

In 2000, Sivakumar was elected Member Group of Technical Staff (MGTS) in TI India for his technical contributions to TI’s success. Sivakumar has two Manufacturing Incentive Awards (MIA) , 3 TI internal papers and one IEEE paper. Sivakumar has chaired the TI India Technical Conference in 2003 and had been elected as a senior member of IEEE in the year 2005.

Sivakumar joined Karnataka Microelectronics Design Centre Private Limited as the Senior Director of Engineering in September 2008. In this role, Sivakumar managed the team of 150+ people that worked for Texas Instruments. He streamlined the operations through processes, structure and empowerment and worked very closely with customers in ensuring high customer satisfaction. He also drove key improvements in people related processes and achieved better people satisfaction. He joined Sankalp Semiconductor in April 2010.

Sivakumar has a Master of Technology degree in Integrated Electronics from IIT, Chennai (1995) and Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication from Anna University, Chennai (1993). Sivakumar is very passionate about quality, automation and processes.
