Technology migration for Analog Design has been a very challenging aspect and not as straightforward as digital designs. It is more time consuming. For the Analog blocks to work in the targeted process, careful design and layout considerations have to be made by experienced design engineers. On one hand, while digital migration has become significantly simpler with the advent of process technology and EDA tools , Analog migration has remained black magic and has not been automated for a long time now.
Sankalp has vast experience and internally developed methodologies to provide high quality porting of all sorts of analog blocks in the shortest time and at lowest cost. In order to tackle the Analog technology migration, Sankalp has its internal methodology for Module level migration with a non-conventional approach. The backbone of every module design is modeled with all non-linearities in VerilogAMS/ MATLAB model (depending on ease and flexibility of the block). This backbone is then clubbed with a set of predefined test-benches and simulation flows to ensure the design changes and modifications are close to most optimal.
Once the design changes are complete, the layout migration engine takes over, which maintains all constraints from original layout and floorplan. The placement and routing are made with new DRC rules to ensure faster time to market with the new layout. There are a large number of Sankalp in-house automations to ensure each step is checked for accurate production quality.
A clear focus on checklist driven flow and automations has helped Sankalp to maintain a track record of First-Pass Silicon success for all projects done by Sankalp so far in this flow.
